- Distance: place the boards about 27 feet apart (front edge to front edge).
- Teams: 1 vs 1 (singles) or 2 vs 2 (doubles).
- Scoring: in the hole = 3 points, on the board = 1 point, off the board = 0 points.
- Cancellation scoring: subtract the lower score from the higher score each round.
- Winning: first team to reach 21 points wins (many players require winning by 2).
- Fouls: stepping past the foul line while throwing can void that throw.
